My conclusions on the bot thus far

Post by Jayy » Fri Nov 06, 2009 3:43 am

First of all let me say this is a fine piece of work, my hats off to the creator, good job!

The bot is very stable, ive ran it a full 24 hours+ and it just kept mowing down mobs getting me tons of loot and exp, though i have noticed when it is trying to find LOS for Hunters while it is attempting to find the LOS for one mob it is completely oblivious to any mobs that may be on it, so i would suggest adding aggro checking as it is searching for the LOS as this has caused me to die a few times.

The way-point system works very well, he stays on his path and never strays, although you should keep the "Wander how far from waypoint" slightly above the distance between each way-point or else he runs right past mobs, collecting aggro along the way. My average distance between way-points for my Hunter is 11, 15 seems to work perfectly, i usually keep the search range 45 or so and the attack range about 35-38 if you put it at 40 it can sometimes cause the mobs to go into "anti-exploit" mode, causing the bot the endlessly fire skills at it.

Some suggestions i have for V2 (Which i would love to test ;)) are, allowing you to add skills manually, what order to use what skills, adding a auto repair which you way-point to the nearest vendor and it will repair all equip after a death and maybe even sell your loot. Another thing i would like to see is a desperate flight option for hunters, currently this is still possible, just put your desperate flight where it says potion and it will use that thinking it is a potion, but then if you end up too far away it gets lost, but that isn't a problem if you run your way-points close to the re-spawn area.

So far i have only used it with my hunter and man is it fast, it mows through mobs nearly as fast as me. Keep up the good work.

v2 is in open beta since last night, I don't think Myst still supports v1.

v2 solves a lot of the issues you're talking about although I believe the main issue you're concerned with is still there, the bot will won't recognize it's pulled aggro when it's maneuvering to get in LOS of a different mob. Repairing isn't available in v2 yet but there are certainly ways to make it a lot more convenient for yourself to go sell and repair. Just put a grind spot down at a vendor and whenever your character needs to repair or sell stop your bot and hit 'GoTo' on that grind spot, go afk for a minute and when you come back your bot will be standing around at the vendor, do what you have to do and then restart the bot and it'll find its way back to where it needs to be by itself.

In v2 the skills the bot uses are completely from an XML so you're able to edit your bots combat routine however you want to easily. I'm sure that with conditions you can get your hunter to use desperate flight.

Hmm that's probably there, but the bot now cheques while getting in range if it gets aggro a long the range, which was always more my problem if something spawned in the path. I can take a look at the LOS stuff.

Ah yes i just saw the open beta post, i haven't had much time to play with it since it was 2:00AM when i downloaded it but from what i gather after an hour it seems like it will be a great improvement over V1. I will most certainly be paying for this bot after the free trials are over.
