Where do I find the last logs for the bot?

Also be careful!!! I didnt think they were even watching for bots but they must be. They also didnt say the length of the ban.

Edit: Lifetime ban.

reported maybe? Also were you selling gold? There are people out there that report anything that looks fishy so if you get stuck on a rock running some douche will report you because they have nothing better to do. I was reported for botting once because I harvested a node that someone else was heading towards, I just got there first and they reported me, and admin contacted me to confirm I wasn't botting.

Not selling gold, but maybe was careless about how much I posted in the AH? I have no idea...

Default location for logs is where your maps and profiles are stored, just not in the subfolders.

Name is by default lotro_log.txt

Since 2.01.4 you can check the GlobalConfig.xml in your installed folder and you can see the locations...

That's a pain!
Have you been banned before for a period of some days or weeks? I thought Turbine does not perma ban right away ?!

Also I agree, don't spam the AH with what you have harvested! It's fine to sell some of the extra stuff you have, but going full out is another matter and surely catches the attention of someone.
In regards to the BOT, I think the only real danger to be caught is twofold:
1. your bot for whatever reason kill steals or in any other way annoys other players, prompting them to send you a tell and you don't answer, but keep on doing the same: you'll be reported and contacted by Turbine
2. you Bot runs against stones, walls, etc. and simply looks stupid: report to Turbine

Not much you can do against #1, apart from taking care, that this does not happen (region, bot set up, etc.), only thing I can imagine is, that as soon as you get a tell, the bot either stops or simply logs out.
In regards to #2, is there something that can be done in the scripting of the bot, that it won't hit the rock or wall for as long as he get's noticed?

Thanks and best,
D*

Would be interesting to see dhfish log...

For "Logout on tell" i could code somthin like that, but on the other hand ppl could force you to logout =)

Random delays, or just stopping for a period of time without acting (no logout) could be also a solution.

How about just detecting when players are near the bot and stop any "bot like" ;) behaviour until they leave? Such as stop moving to prevent the bot from running against obstacles and only fight if attacked. The moves the bot does when trying to acquire a target when los is blocked sure is a dead giveaway that it's a bot.

I'd rather prefer to be "forcefully" logged out than to loose my toons alltogether. Some random timer after tell and tick the box, if log out is desired :)
No one should be forced to safeguard his toon ;)

Additionally approaching NPC's and seemingly communicating with them (staying there for a number of minutes), ideally quest-, trader-, etc. NPC (whitelist of randomly approachable NPC on set waypoints)

Hmm, a friend recently got banned as well. There seem to be excessive numbers of people around, watching in game and reporting what they beliefe to be botters, and Turbine staff seem to be acting swiftly (opposed to what they did in the past) on any suspecios behavior (justified or not..).
I'll ditch my habit for the moment, until we have a bit more clarity on the causes behind it, and possible "safety measures" in place ;)

As soon as I know more, I'll let you know, just be careful!

Best,
D*

it would be nice to see some logs before the ban took place. Like were they contacted by someone and not respond so they reported or did an admin even try to talk to them or just watched them maybe and banned them.

We checked the logs yesterday. No indication what so ever, that a GM was nearby.
That means:
- no whisper
- no strange mob killed ("don't kill me's" or alike)
- no logged strange behavior of the bot
- bot was not interrupted, but died 9 times and logged off as always

Well, that should mean, that the bot was either contacted via broadcast news to the char directly, via say, or otherwise behavior in front of him, which the player should have reacted to, or the char was not contacted at all, but just has been watched, decided that he behaves strangly, the logs scrutinized and decided to ban him/her.
It does not seem to be a perm ban, thus indicating, that the GM or admin were not 100% sure.

The bot was contacted by one whisper, nothing strange, as the contacting person is known to my friend.

No big help, just be careful in the future.

D*

What did the ban e-mail say?
A msg in /say is not reliable because I know unless it is on the right tab I dont see /say stuff. My guess is the bot was behaving strangely. Did he have a large path? Dying 9 times with out repair is strange so maybe that was a trigger?
