For years I have played games. I started my online gaming back when StarCraft came out. Then Diablo II, City of Hero's, WoW and more.

Here's my advice for AH'ing items. I go by these quite strictly. AH is about selling off items you do not need with trying to get the most out of it. But remember, the most doesn't mean you'll make more than someone else.


A) Search for your item or one similar to get an idea for the pricing on it.
B) Price your item slightly lower than the other item(s).
C) Sell on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Most players will be on during this time frame to look at the AH.
D) The time frame I use is for 1 day, My price is usually 2/3 price. So if the price is 300 silver, I sell for 200 silver.
E) Round down! If it's 200 silver round down to 199silver 99copper. Use the 6-7-9 rule. This means you round down to one of these.

Examples:
- 69s 99c
- 66s 99c
- 77s 77c
- 77s 99c
- 79s 99c
- Etc...


As for applying ranges a min and max range keep it close, pending the worth keep it at a 3/5 or 4/5 ratio (min/max). If the max is 50 silver, keep it at a min of 30 or 40 silver pending what everyone else has it for.

Most people believe they are saving money by seeing those low numbers of 6's 7's and 9's... however they really are only saving 1c or so. This is a trick that everyone uses to sell stuff. Go look at walmart, grocery stores or any other place, you'll see the general setup in the real world.



Since you are limited in game on number of slots you can hold, use your mailbox as additional storage. If it fails to sell it goes to your mailbox. It will stay for 2 weeks, which gives you plenty of time to pull it out later. I use this to store all my 100x stack of ore's and hides.

Most of your comments seem to generalize strategies, while making the most gold via any online Auction House is VERY specific.

In this game the two types of items that will sell most often are crafted armors, or goods used in crafting. There is no substitute for them, they are either up on the AH or not. What you can do in the case of crafted armor is look for armor 8 levels above or below of the same type (light/medium/heavy) and of the same slot. Remember also to search for the Light Blue armor pieces that are within that level range. You shouldn't bother selling your armor higher than those pieces. Find an online crafting source and find out what the items you're selling are for, items such as scroll materials are among the most expensive and can often be overlooked as a worthless item and barely worth selling.

yes. But also remember to price it SIGNIFICANTLY lower if it is an item you can collect extremely often and you don't want to build up surplus. (i.e. food / farming goods that you're using skiluli to farm with)

This is infact one of the worst pieces of advice players that make "AH guides" give. The simple fact is that when everyone is online, everyone is selling their goods. Take for example players that only get on during the weekend. They want gold just as much as you (a farmer) does, and they know to price things to sell just like you do. You will get FAR FAR better results logging into your AH character 3-5 times a night on the weeknights than attempting to compete with the mass number of undercutters. (weekend sales are for items that you can farm like crazy and don't care about what price you get for your items i.e. again sikuli farm goods and foods)

I agree completely. If it doesnt sell in 1 day, you're costing yourself both a higher deposit, but more importantly the potential sales space of other items you know will sell.

This is a generic rule again that if you're ability to gather and process information is high, you're better off not following this rule at all. If you know the likelyhood of the sale of your product (i.e. high level Battle/Warding Scroll materials) it's better to price them in accordance with the quantity of competition. What I mean by this is the following, if there are 7 Rune Carved Relics on the AH and you have 5 to sell, that is only enough to craft 6 scrolls, these items are at a premium, lowering your cost and rounding down only costs you potential profit.

F) Know your player base. The majority of players in this game are between 10-40, after that they start to dwindle away. craft level 25-40 armor and it will sell pretty well, and you'll only be out a small amound of money.
