Another quick question about the game client performance...

I've not played in a while (had to fork over lots of gold to keep the houses out of foreclosure) but after this last patch I found that the client was very, very slow. I don't think I've changed any settings since I last played and was able to run two client very easily. Now, at those same setting it was like walking through molasses.

Again, just me or did they make some kind of "improvement" that slowed things down?

Cleared right up when I set my video prefs down a bit but it's not been a problem before.

Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things in the next few weeks....

i had to do clean install to get client to even work then i had to check settings in launcher to repair or reset display cause when client loaded after patching screen was black with out of range signal message on screen after that it runs better so if you have old setup file i suggest redownloading new client files then patching after my video issue seems fine client wise anyway

I can confirm bit performance issues with at least the latest client update. Some kinship mates have slideshow grafics right from the first startup video.
I will recommend them to reinstall the game, up to now we just resetted their graphic settings with no improve. Graphic driver update didn't help either (all are on NVIDIA).

Personally I expecrience bad server connectivity on my server lately (already before the latest patch), at best I have a ping of 300 and often there is a package loss about 10%. This makes the gameplay a little sluggish.

Hopefully when all players have downloaded the client the ping and packeltloss will return to normal.

Cheers.

For latency issues, changing the window auto scaling of the tcp/ip stack can help in some cases depending on the routers/switches/gateways between you and the endpoint.

Try running this from an admin command prompt.

Code: Select all

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

if you want to reset,

Code: Select all

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

Disabling the window scaling basically prevents the TCP receiver from agreeing to the sender to send multiple amounts of data before receiving an ACK from the receiver. Simply, it can prevent the receiver from requiring resends because it's buffer overflowed and it lost data.

For more info read here: http://technet.microsoft.com/library/bb878127

Yes, the above is an older article, but it still applies. You can alway re-enable with the second command if you don't see any improvement.

Thanks bob and darkheart.

Yesterday the ping was back down to about 200 (I guess most of the ppl have finished their client patching). 200 is quite normal for me since Turbine moved the EU Servers back to US.

However I will give both approaches a try this weekend and will return with any progress.
